BuckView3D: Building a Platform to Turn Antler Photos into 3D Models and Custom Orders

BuckView3D is a startup founded by Mike Twork in collaboration with Grand Valley State University. The idea began as a GVSU capstone project: a system to map deer antlers for 3D printing and modeling based on a single photograph.

The Challenge
Barrett Solutions took over development from the original capstone project to turn the concept into a real product. That meant building the platform from where the GVSU students had left off, one that could take a photo of a deer's antlers, generate an accurate 3D model, and support a real business around it (ordering replicas and managing a growing catalog of models).

What Barrett Solutions Built

Core platform: Photo upload, image validation (confirming the upload is actually antlers), and preprocessing work ahead of model generation, plus a catalog system to manage and browse the growing library of models.

Commerce: Stripe-powered payments supporting subscriptions, one-time merchandise purchases, and model downloads, backed by a merchandise storefront with cart and checkout.

Product features: MVP social features including user profiles, posts, and shareable links so users can show off their models outside the platform.

Foundation: Full account and role-based access management.

Where Things Stand
BuckView3D has completed the Beta with strong feedback, and has now launched commercially at buckview3d.com.
